Forres Harriers played host to the final race in the Northern Scot series – the ever popular Benromach 10k.
There was an outstanding turnout of yella vests with no fewer than 30 MRRs on the start line. Despite the breeze there were many superb performances with PBs and prizes very much the order of the day.
Kenny Wilson dominated the race from the start, producing a superb solo effort to win in 31.31.
Gareth Jenkins (4th), James Wilson (8th) and Colin Green (2nd V40) joined Kenny to take the team prize.
Not to be outdone, our Ladies quartet of Louise Cartmell (2nd), Susan Rae (4th), Elspeth Jenkins (2nd V40) and Justine Blaszk claimed the female team prize. Sally Bruce(3rd V40) and Barbara Bowie (2nd V60) were our other prizewinners in a race won by ex-MRR junior star Gemma Cormack (38.43).
Judging by the buzz at the end there was an abundance of PBs and strong runs throughout which made it a great day for the Club and an excellent way to end the series.
Well done everybody and thank you to Anne, Frances and the team at Forres Harriers for another great event.
Overall Northern Scot series prizes were up for grabs with those runners who had completed the 10Ks at Nairn, Miltonduff, Buckie and Benromach all in with a chance of individual prizes. With 18 prizes available it was an absolutely outstanding achievement for MRR to claim 9 of them.
The look of delight/bewilderment/pride was something to behold on certain faces so well done to the following MRRs and to all others who supported the series:
Overall:
1st – Gareth Jenkins / Louise Cartmell
2nd – James Wilson / Justine Blaszk
3rd – Ryan McLennan / Michelle Russell
V40:
2nd – Colin Green / Sally Bruce
3rd – Eileen Riddoch
