With London training in full swing, my training schedule called for me to race a 10K today.
So, on a lovely calm and sunny morning here in Spain, Marian and I ran in the Murcia 10K which forms part of the Murcia Marathon festival.
As well as the full marathon and the 10K there was a half marathon for in-line skaters, which was very popular with a large turn-out. In-line skating must surely have a greater following here compared to the UK.
Yesterday at registration we met two serial marathoners (closing in on 400!) from Liverpool, who of course knew Dave Green, himself a 200+ marathoner and ex Moray Road Runner.
Returning to t
oday’s event, Marian ran sub-58 and achieved 1st place in the female vet 50+ category. I ran sub-43 and was placed third in the male vet 60+ category.
The attached photographs show the two of us pre-race, and later me on the podium.
Happy days.
