Cloch Mhor Hill Race 12/04/2014
On Saturday,Jenni Coelho,Keith McArthur and Colin Green travelled to Dingwall for the Cioch Mhor hill race.
This race starts just outside the Castle’s grounds, then straight into a climb through fields used for grazing. On approaching the first summit the wind picked up force blowing the runners sideways, with some hail thrown in as well.

The runners then turned into the wind and had to battle downhill to the river crossing. From the first summit to the next one, the course is not marked, runners having to make their own route, after wading across the river (which was about knee deep), it was onto a track which led to the second hill. This was up through thick heather with a steep final climb. The summit of this hill marked the halfway point. The runners then retraced their route back, with the wind still playing a part and a herd of cow with their calves slowing up some of the runners.

All three MRRs really enjoyed the race, which was well organised. The cakes and hospitality at the end of helped make it a great value at only £5. To view the route please click here. Report by Colin Green
