Man V Horse, South Loch Ness 13/04/2014

Sally Bruce and Steven Morrison took part in the Man v Horse challenge.  The challenge was over 16 miles of off road and very hilly terrain in what was a wet and windy day from Whitebridge to Dores along the south side of Loch Ness.  The views along the route were however stunning and helped ease the pain of those steep and long hills.  A maximum of 44 runners and 22 horses took part.  Steven completed the course in 2:04:47 as the 3rd placed runner and was only beaten by 2 horses, one of which was ridden by his sister, Joanne.  Sally completed the course in 2:58:36, beating 9 horses back and even managed a few photos along the way.  (Maybe if I hadn’t stopped to take photos on route & done some hill training,  I would’ve done better)?!
The course was exhilarating and very well marshalled along the way, great atmosphere amongst participants and a fun course to take part in!
A really tough course which was filmed for TV by Dougie Vipond and his team for the show landward which is to be screened at 7pm on BBC2 on Friday 18th April.Report by:  Sally Bruce
