Sunday the 25th May 2014 should have been glorious sunshine, but instead we set off in miserable rain to take part in Cancer Research’s Race for Life in Inverness.

Luckily though it dried out for the actual Race!

I was part of TeamPhilip with Steven’s sister Joey and her daughter Emma aged 9.  Emma had been busy fundraising all week and in total raised over £300 for Cancer Research.

We arrived at Inverness at 12.50pm and the Race started at 1pm.  It was the usual fun warm up of loud music and dancing and lots of people in pink with heart-wrenching stories on their backs.

I was running for my mum who died in 1998 from Breast Cancer aged 46 and my highschool best friend Vicky who died in 2012 aged just 29 from Pancreatic Cancer.

We lined up at the start and set off with literally thousands of others.  We crossed the line in exactly 30 minutes!  Jenny Bannerman won in 17 minutes!

Emma was delighted with her time as it was 5 minutes faster than last years along with the fact that the entire 5km she kept telling me to hurry up!

Roll on next year.
