Virgin London Marathon 13/04/2014
Once again, runners were met with warm conditions at this year’s London Marathon. MRR athletes Simon Dobbs, Stephen Carmichael, Karen Norvell and Ally Campbell had all been training rigorously throughout the winter with London being their ultimate goal. Simon was first home in an exceptional time of 2.45.31 (382nd overall and 36th in his age category). Amazingly, he went through 10K quicker than his time at Moray 10K a few weeks before! Stephen suffered slightly in the heat but still ran 3.11.06, a great time given that he was not firing on all cylinders. Karen ran her first VLM impressively clocking 4.26.00 (849th in her age category) whilst enjoying the whole experience. Ally was 99th in his age category and clocked 2.49.32 managing a negative split in the process. All 4 savoured the atmosphere created by a record crowd and will no doubt enjoy a period of rest before looking to their next goals. I am sure Karen plans to do many more! Report By: Ally Campbell
