This annual event features different distances to run, from 5km right up to the Marathon. We had a good showing from the club for the 10km and the Marathon.
The forecast for the day was good. For those of us doing the marathon it was an early start as the buses left Inverness at 7:30 to go to the start. It was a good feeling at the start with a few thousand runners gathered, it was slightly cool but started to heat up as we got going. The day was beautiful, if a bit warm, the run is beautiful, going up beside Loch Ness, it is a quick start with around 6-10 miles of downhill and the temptation to go off fast, still it is a lovely marathon to do with an undulating course.
MRRs running the Marathon was Ali Campbell ( who got bronze in his age category) Stephen Carmichael, Steve Reeve (who won the SV Scottish Champs) Karen Norvell, Robert Bruce and Douglas and Fiona Hamilton. The first 3 MRR men home also came 3rd in the team prize so congratulations to Steve Reeve, Stephen Carmichael and Ali Campbell.
There was also a good showing for the 10km with Kenny Wilson (3rd overall) Elspeth Jenkins, Dave Mathers, Steven Morrison, Claire
Smith, Toks Osunrinade, Michelle Donaldson-Slater, Sally Bruce and Karene Ferrier.
There were Pbs and good runs throughout the runners and congratulations to everyone for competing but especially to our medal winners, Steve Reeve, Ali Campbell and Kenny Wilson.
We’ll be back next year.
