This is the third 10km in The Northern Scot series. The day promised to be dry but it was looking like there would be a 20mph headwind on the way back into Buckie.
Team Yella had a total of 16 runners with some good results and times all round. We also had some juniors running in the fun run.
This is quite a good race. They had moved the start as previously the 10km had been a bit short, you now start outside the Dental Centre and you run down West Church Street, across the roundabout and then fairly soon you turn right and head out of Buckie, this part had a bit of a tailwind, as we headed out of Buckie towards the turning that takes us past the Golf Course. I noticed some horses running about the fields, obviously wanting to join us in the race. We turned towards the Gold Course and you started to feel the force of the wind, then as you turned and went down the hill towards Bijou by the Sea, the full force could be felt, they wasn’t many areas that the wind abated, so you just had to knuckle down and keep running. After running for 3 miles or so into a headwind, you gratefully turn left out of the wind only to see a sharp hill to climb up, once up, it was a short run to the roundabout, over the bridge then you were finished.
Kenny won his 3rd Northern Scot 10km, with only 1 more to go he is certainly on track to win the series. Barbara won her age category, Michelle was 4th lady and Karen was 3rd lady in her age category.
Everyone ran well in hard windy conditions. The results and pictures are on the website
