There was a record entry for this year’s Lossiemouth Turkey Trot as 218 starters tackled the
10 mile course in dry but windy conditions. The strong westerly wind did not deter Moray Road Runners’ Kenny Wilson who stormed around in 52.28 to win comfortably from Inverness Harriers’ Gordon Lennox and Michael O’Donnell. The Ladies race saw Jenny Bannerman (Inverness Harriers) lead home a top quality field in 58.59 with Fiona Brian (Metro Aberdeen) and Nicola Gauld (Aberdeen AAC) 2nd and 3rd.
There were excellent performances throughout the race from the large contingent of MRR athletes with numerous PBs reported at the finish line. It was great to see so many Club members involved with the race whether it was helping in advance, on the day, taking part or all 3!! As always a massive thank you to Inverness Radio Volunteers and 423 Sqn (Elgin) ATC for their on-course presence and to all the runners, supporters and helpers for another fantastic event. We even had a visit from santa.Look forward to seeing many in the New Year at the Kinloss to Lossiemouth Half Marathon on Sunday 19th Feb (hopefully with the same strong westerly wind)!!
