Summer is here, nearly, and the road racing season is off to a flyer. A cold, bright and nearly calm day made it perfect for racing. Fantastically organised by a small, often unseen army, Nairn Road Runners have set the standard for the series.
Current club champions Kenny and Barbara led the way in fine style at the Nairn 10k on Sunday 6 March. Both continued where they left off last season and have thrown down the gauntlet to any would-be championship challengers early in the season.
Kenny showed his class by winning the race in 32 minutes, over one minute ahead of his nearest challenger. Barbara meanwhile smashed last year’s time, finished inside 50 minutes and claimed a well deserved F60 crown.
Club Chairman Gareth grabbed 5th overall and 1st MV. Captains Colin and Karen also led the club to the ‘podium’ by claiming 2nd MV and 3rd FV respectively. Congratulations also to Steve R for claiming 3rd MSV in a very strong field.
The final gong to be claimed on Sunday went to Kenny, Gareth and Colin (Champion, Chairman and Captain) who combined to bag the 1st Male Team prize too. Moray Road Runners won 7 of the 22 prizes available. Congratulations to all on some very strong running.
A total of 26 Moray Road Runners made it to the start line, over 10% of the field. An impressive turnout, long may it continue. All were eager to put their winter training to the test in the first race of The Northern Scot Series. Many

PB’s were bagged, some big ones at that. I don’t know all of them so won’t list them here. There is a cohort of Road Runners currently around the 44 to 46 minute mark all pushing and pulling each other along. This can only be good for them and the club, and the 3 C’s will
have to watch their backs.
Finally, it can’t go unmentioned that club stalwart George made his road running comeback on Sunday. Unfortunately for George there was no prize for 2nd M60 but plenty of kudos.
