Hosted by MRR at Elgin City Football Club, the Friday evening saw over 50 people enjoy an informative and personal talk relating to Robert’s own experience as a coach and father to 2 of Scotland’s brightest talents, Derek and Callum Hawkins.The presentation focussed on the brothers’ achievements as junior athletes and followed their journey to Glasgow 2014 where they represented Scotland in the Marathon and 10000m respectively.
The Saturday morning saw 20 people take part in a workshop at Elgin High School that introduced the Foundational Movement Assessment with coaches and athletes alike given the opportunity to explore the key techniques and learning points associated with a range of relevant exercises.Many thanks to Russell Main for instigating the visit, Elgin City Football Club for their hospitality and to everyone that attended over the 2 days.
Finally, a big thank you to Robert Hawkins for making the journey north to share his knowledge, skills and experience. Time to set targets, structure training and plan sessions/races accordingly!!!
