Gordon Castle Highland Games 10km – 15/05/2016

13173903_1086529051386436_4848811118674725707_nThere was a good showing at this race, with 15 MRRs entered, this is around 16% of the field as there were a total of 94 runners.

This race is predominantly a trail race but the trails were dry and easy to run on.  The race started at 11am, we all lined up in the Games field and did a lap of the field before running out of the park and onto the trails, this is a very attractive race to run, we circle a lake and the route then “undulates” if you have the time to enjoy the scenery it is a lovely race to run.

Unfortunately, an error occurred, whereby the front runners were sent the wrong way, hopefully this is a lesson learned for the organisers for next year.

There were some good results in this race for MRRs:

Stephen Carmichael – 2nd Overall and 1st MV

Nigel Williams – 4th Overall and 1st MSV

Robert Bruce – 8th Overall and 2nd MSV

Karen Norvell – 22nd Overall and 2nd FV

Sally Bruce – 29th Overall and 3rd FV

This was a really good showing from MRR and when you looked at the start line all you could see was yella vests.  The entry to this race also gives you entry to the Highland Games and you can spend the rest of the day looking around and enjoying the stalls and food.  This is also part of a series of runs organised by Spey Runners.  The next being the Jean Carr on 24th July for those interested.

Results for this race are on our website under the Results 2016 tab.
