A group of intrepid Moray Road Runners set out from Elgin on Sunday afternoon to take part in the Nairn 10 mile Road Race and fun run/charity day.
Michelle kindly offered to drive and duly collected Irina, Sally & myself in what can only be described as The Starship Enterprise …. we were certainly arriving in style!
A small pit stop in Forres for supplies (jellybabies!!) saw us arriving in plenty of time for registration and race prep. 4 happily turned into 7 as we collected Kenny, Louise and Sarah in the Community Centre.
It was a very warm afternoon and we were all new to the course so had no clue as to what was coming. A scenic and undulating course presented an interesting challenge to the compact field, with a total of 67 runners, and the MRR team found themselves strung out along the road.
We all duly finished.
Kenny & Louise representing well by finishing 2nd in their respective classes.
Sarah Houston picked up a supervet prize, and the Ladies Team Prize also went to MRR with Louise, Sarah, myself and Irina.
The final results for Team MRR are :
- Kenny Wilson 57.59
- Louise Cartmell 1.08.20
- Sarah Houston 1.17.38
- Karen Norvell 1.21.05
- Irina Thomson 1.26.32
- Michelle Donaldson Slater 1.29.16
- Sally Bruce 1.34.25
I think we are all agreed it was a lovely run, well organised and with tremendous support both on the course and in Nairn itself. All results and pictures are available on the MRR website.
