Scottish Half Marathon 06/09/2014

The Scottish Half Marathon is the newest event on the UK’s running calendar.  The route is seriously flat & rapid – if you want to set a personal best for a half marathon, then this is the event for you.
Starting conveniently at 11am just outside Edinburgh, you run along the magnificent Golf Coast before finishing in the final furlong at Musselburgh Racecourse, Scotland’s oldest racecourse.  On the day 2533 runners took part.
Helen 2 It was a flat mostly downhill run, passing through Longniddry, down along the coast, then you turned around just after 5miles through Port Seaton, Cockenzie, Prestonpans then onto the finish in front of the Grandstand at Mussleburgh Racecourse which was fantastic.
The weather was fine dry conditions, no wind, ideal for good run!!!
It was great to see some local faces and meeting new folks along the way, the course was well marshalled with plenty folks out supporting you, there were 4 water stations and a high 5 Energy gel station.Helen Run
The Medal is amazing, rather large and heavy with the rampant lion inscribed on it, goody bag with technical running teeshirt and plenty of goodies.
I was the only MRR to take part and completed the course in 1hr 46min, overall finish position 581, Category 40-44. Female finish position 20 of 251.
All in all I would certainly recommend this race, however I  wouldn’t recommend Carparking at the Racecourse as we waited 2 and half hrs to get out afterwards.Helen 1
