One of Scotland’s top junior athletes has had a busy end to her season.

Dionne Milne is only 16 but her personal best of 44:09 metres is further than anyone else in the under-20s category has thrown the discus this year.

Three weekends ago, Dionne won the U-20 Scottish Championships in Aberdeen.

A fortnight ago she was in the South of England at Bedford taking part in the AAA championships, where she came second.

And last weekend Dionne was competing in the British Schools Games in Manchester where she captained the Scottish team and came second in her event again.

Talking about her recent success, the teenager said.  “I love athletics, I love the fact that you get to travel, see lots of new places and meet lots of new people.  It doesn’t always happen, but when you’re throwing well it’s a tremendous feeling, and there are always aspects to work on and try to improve.”

Dionne is  competing on Saturday 13th September at an open event in Perth, which will be the last competition of this season.
