Dufftown 10 Mile Trail Race 19/10/2014

There were 3 MRRs entered for this race, Kenny Wilson, Steven Morrison and Robert Bruce with Helen and Molly marshalling and handing out water and encouragement.

There were only around 30 runners for this race and the weather was fine to run in.  The race started at the bottom of a hill ( no one warned me of this) and the route took

Unaware of what's to come

you up the hill, a climb of 234 meters, with everyone having to walk sections.  The ground underfoot was good, some mud and water but not much, once you got to the top of the hill you entered a wood, then enjoyed a downhill section into Aberlour, once there you joined the Speyside Way to Dufftown.

This part of the race, gradually goes uphill to the end of the race.  Helen and Molly were manning a water station at around 4.5 miles and the encouragement given was most welcome.  You carried along this section for 5 miles until you finished just on the outskirts of Dufftown.

I found this race to be quite hard with the climb at the beginning taking a lot out of me, however MRRs did well, with Kenny winning this race.

Well done to the organisers for the race and for the really good spread at the end.
