Gordon Castle 10km – 17/05/2015

WP_20150517_004The sun was shining and there was a little breeze for this year’s Gordon Castle Highland Games 10k race.

Sixty-three runners took part, and there was a good showing of Yella vests, with twelve MRR’s taking part.

This is a trail run, which takes you on a loop round the Castle pond before heading up the hill(s!) into the woods.  The course is pretty undulating with a steady climb in the first half, then it’s downhill until you hit a long tree-lined farm track which takes you back to the finish at the Castle.  It is slightly over 10k and not a fast course but a nice change from the usual road races.

I took second lady and Louise Cartmell was third (Louise was leading lady throughout the race but unfortunately took a wrong turn near the end and lost her place).

Prizes are only given to the first placed finishers in each category so I got 1st FVET (auld wifie award!), and some of the other MRR’s were

2nd Lady and 1st Auld Wifie
2nd Lady and 1st Auld Wifie

top three finishers in their categories.

Once the results are published they will be available on the website
