Kinloss Remembrance HM – 07/11/2015

This is a new HM organised by 39 Engineer Regiment.  All monies are going to the local British Legion.  There were 4 MRRs entered in this race.  Robert Bruce, Neil Purdie, Toks Osunrinade and Garry Henderson

On arrival we registered in the Station Gym to be told that entry to the race was free but there are raffle tickets for sale.  Everyone thought that the entry was £10 so the majority just bought £10 worth of raffle tickets.

The start was at the old married quarters, there was a remembrance speech, then the last post and once all that had been concluded the race started.  Garry raced off, followed by the rest of us, Neil and I ran together all the way round.   This race took us onto Kinloss Barracks, we ran around the Peri track, until mile 7 then turned round and came back the way we came, around mile 10, we turned off the road and ended up running off-road for a mile or so, this was a very nice relief from the tarmac as my calf was giving me some ache.

We came back onto tarmac for the last couple of miles, then finished at the Parade Ground, where a bus took us back to the Gymnasium, where there was a really good spread of hot food for everyone, curry, pasta etc.

The presentations were made and it got noisy at one point when the Commanding Officer said he was going to auction, for charity, 5 days leave, a bidding war then ensued amongst the Army with the winner paying £150 for his weeks holiday.

All in all a good race, very flat but nice to run somewhere different
