Twelve MRRs took on the Speyside Windfarm Challenge in decent conditions today. Two races are offered for seniors – 10k and a 12 miler – with a 1 mile race for juniors. Both senior races set off together with the fields splitting after 5k of mostly uphill running.
Well done to Graham Stephen and Grace Jenkins who were first male and female home in the 10k. Strong runs all round with Scott Phimister, Kenny MacRae, Euan Cantlie, Andrew and Cathy Donegan completing the challenge. It really is a race of 2 halves – long uphill followed by a long downhill.
In the 12 miler Gareth Jenkins was first home with 4 other MRRs running well – Paul Meldrum, Colin Green, Elspeth Jenkins and Kirsty Austin. The undulating tracks, lovely views, wildlife ranging from hares to a snake lurking near the car park and the welcoming spread afterwards make this a cracking local race. Well done everyone and many thanks to Col Baird and the team for another great day out.
