No fewer that 51 MRR athletes took part in the opening fixture of this season’s North District XC League and it was great to see a mix of experience and first timers representing the Club.
In the Junior races there were excellent performances throughout, especially from individuals such as Ellyn Smith (1st U13) and Morven Ross in the U15s. As pleasing was the effort shown by all in order to gain valuable team points, so well done to everyone who came along.
Michelle Slater led the ladies team with a further 11 MRR women taking part over the 4 mile route, which bodes well for future races.
Gareth Jenkins (2nd) was the first MRR home in the Men’s race and an outstanding turnout of 18 men ensured the team featured prominently.
The next League race is at Gordonstoun on 29th October and is hosted by MRR. This course will be familiar to many juniors and should be fast and forgiving underfoot, so hopefully we will see another fantastic presence of yellow vests on the start line.
