On Saturday Paul Taylor and Colin Green traveled down to Falkland in Fife to take part in the Scottish Trail Race Championship.
The race t
ook place just on the edge of the village. The weather was constant drizzle which was pleasant enough for running in.
We all started at a fast pace, being downhill and on tarmac for the first 300 metres or so. The course then went off road on to paths between fields, then on to a mixture of narrow woodland trails and good wide forestry tracks.
The under foot conditions were mostly good dry paths, with the rare bit of mud (both Paul and Colin opted to wear road trainers, which handled the conditions very well).
The course is undulating but nothing too serious, it actually reminded me of the Forres cross country course. Both Paul and Colin were very happy to break the hour for the 15km course.
Paul was an impressive 18th in a time of 57min 21sec, and Colin came in 28th in 58min 29sec. 91 men completed the race.
Well worth the journey down, and will definitely be going again next year.
